New Member’s Ride

The second Sunday in May 2026 was the date for C&F New Members Ride. Although a new members ride it was of course opened to existing riders. Pleased to say we had several new riders join us. At the briefing we welcomed Turabi as a new Road Captain having successfully completed his Road Captains course, a welcome addition to the crew. The route had been checked and triple checked, coffee and lunch stop checked out, all we needed now was the rain to hold off.

We left Warr’s and headed out along the Kings Road, it was some sight, 36 Harleys going out on a Sunday morning, traffic stopping in places to let us through.

The route took us out of town and through great roads exploring the leafy lanes of Surrey. The route included a mix of sweeping bends, ancient sunken lanes, closing hair pins, as well as some of my favourite combinations of roads all in a flowing combination.

We carried on our journey through the beautiful Surrey countryside to our coffee stop at Maddings, Whipley Manor Farm, who really rolled at the red carpet for us. All refreshed we continued with some more great roads, on through the Army training area of Deepcut and Pirbright to lunch. All riders were at the top of their game, no issues, very impressive. It was a great ride with great people, pleasing to see all the C&F members engaging with and making the new members very welcomed.

A few thank you’s to finish off. A big thank you to all the riders for turning out. Well done to all the C&F members present and thank you to all of our members who helped the ride flow on the day by diligently marking the drop-off points I placed you in, this really does make the difference in terms of keeping everyone together as a group, especially as some of the sections were 4 & 5 miles long.

A particular thanks to our brilliant Road Captains. Manos for his last man duties keeping it all together. Turabi not only for his excellent RC duties but also great pictures of the day. Andy Eborn for covering at least twice the distance marking any junctions he thought might be problematic. Nigel for once again steeping in and helping me out with RC duties and keeping the ride flowing. Johnners for the reece, what a great team!
